This model is a year old now and is an upgrad to its preceding model the A550. This model boasts enhanced features than that of its previous model launched sometime before it. It offers a 7.1 mega pixel image resolution to its 2.5-inch color LCD screen.

The main handy feature that stands out is the face-detection autofocus which allows the user to get the focus on the face of the image. The camera adopts a 4x zoom and captures detailed images thanks to its 7.1 mega pixel resolution. The receptiveness of the zoom is fast and at a click of a button. The start up of this digital camera is fast and it takes about a 1.6 sec delay between the shots. The continuous mode is a bit lethargic and manages about 1.3 frames per second. The other special features include Still frame sound caption recording, Creative Effects menu, Auto White balance including five preset white balance modes and custom white balance setting capability, DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) compatibility.

This canon digital camera weighs around 165 grams without the battery and is not very sleek but it does fit in bags and pockets. It is not for the people who look out for very sleek and slim models. It is a subcompact camera and is high on features. It can run on a pair of AA battery supply or rechargeable AA size Ni-MH or through its AC adapter kit. The batteries seem a better option for avoiding the carriage of the adapter and can also be used as a back-up power source.

This canon digital camera is available with a 16MB Multimedia Card but can also be upgraded with SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card. The LCD display takes the rear of the camera and provides better viewing of the images and videos. Priced reasonably it is a good bet for portable, user friendly, feature oriented users.
